Writing event transformers it turned out that many tasks are quite similar:

category mapping: There have been several discussions about either trying to perform a guess mapping, or providing a admin settings page that lets the users map already present taxonomies to an common event category.
features image to banner image: see discussion on SocialHub
summary creation from most important stuff: The summary could also be defined by a modern block editor, or via a shortcode setting on a admin setting page.
